La Fundación por la Arquitectura te invita a participar de un recorrido arquitectónico por el Museo de Arte y Diseño de Miramar - MADMi con el Arquitecto Alberto Ferrer, AIA.

La Fundación por la Arquitectura te invita a participar de un recorrido arquitectónico por el Museo de Arte y Diseño de Miramar - MADMi con el Arquitecto Alberto Ferrer, AIA. En el recorrido se discutirá el proceso de diseño y construcción de este proyecto para transformar una residencia histórica en un espacio cultural dentro del concurrido tejido urbano de Miramar. El diseño arquitectónico crea un enlace entre el pasado y el presente mediante la preservación del cascarón exterior de la casa original y adaptando su interior a unos espacios modernos para exhibiciones y actividades comunitarias.

Alberto Ferrer AIA


Alberto Ferrer, AIA, graduated from Cornell University’s School of Architecture in 1970. He joined Toro-Ferrer and Associates and became partner in 1975. In 1980 he joined the firm of Luis Sierra Associates and in 1984 became co-founding partner of Sierra Cardona Ferrer (now SCF Architects). As managing partner of SCF, his professional experience has focused on interior design, hospitality, institutional and corporate office projects. He is also experienced sustainable design.


Notable projects include the recent VA Rehabilitation Center in San Juan, a groundbreaking project for the Veteran’s Administration that sets new national design standards for projects of its kind; the MADMI (Miramar Museum of Art & Design), a noteworthy adaptive-reuse of an early 20th-century house into a new art and design museum in San Juan, winner of the National Architecture Award (XV CAAPPR Biennale), and the 2019 AIA Florida/Caribbean Merit Award of Excellence for Renovations and Additions. His design for the Salvation Army Kroc Center in Guayama won a distinguished award from the International Union of Architects (UIA).


His dedication to educational and civic activities has led him to act as a Trustee of Sacred Heart University in Puerto Rico, as a Member of Cornell’s Secondary School Committee, and as member of the Board of Regents of the Colegio Puertorriqueño de Niñas. Ferrer was a professor at the UPR School of Architecture for five years, has taught at the School of Architecture of the Polytechnic University of Puerto Rico and has served as a frequent juror/critic at both schools. He has also held positions as Auditor of the Colegio de Arquitectos y Arquitectos Paisajistas de Puerto Rico and as Vice-President of “Fundación por la Arquitectura”.

Reading ARCHITECTURAL TOUR Miramar Museum of Art and Design (MADMi) took me back to the many times during my own academic journey when stepping outside the usual routine to explore art, spaces, and design gave me much-needed perspective and energy especially during intense stretches of research and deadlines when the pressure felt so heavy that I sometimes half-jokingly thought an online class taker could give me a moment of calm; I’m a student of PhD in current days and doing part-time job at The Online Class Help and assisting students in their academic work I have a deep interest in helping others bcz in my college days I suffer alot from these types of hustles I’m really cpnsious about my studies an…
